Researchers at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, have published a laboratory study showing that Ivermectine (long considered to be a safe and effective medicine for treating certain parasitic diseases) can kill the coronavirus in under 48 hours. A single treatment has been able to reduce the virus by around 5 000 times in 48 hours on cellular cultures.
MedinCell launched a research project a few weeks ago for a long-acting injectable formulation of Ivermectine. Further clinical studies should confirm the action of on the Covid-19 virus as well as the potential effectiveness of long-lasting injectable on prevention, and therefore on breaking the transmission chain. If the results are positive, long-acting injectable Ivermectine based on BEPO® technology would offer an affordable solution which could be deployed quickly in response to a global pandemic.
