The NoMadPlay app allows, with the help of artificial intelligence, all musicians amateur and professional to step into the shoes of any musician playing in a live or studio recording. The app uses an innovative algorithm that separates out the various sound sources in an acoustic recording. This means that NoMadPlay gives musicians an immersive experience by allowing them to take the place of a particular musician in the best classical and contemporary ensembles.
"NoMadPlay was designed for amateur and professional musicians and for music-lovers in general. It gives them an immersive way of discovering music and musicians and gives them an interactive, fun and high-quality way of practising," said Clothilde Chalot, Chairman and CEO of NoMadMusic.
"We love the app because it allows all musicians to experience the pleasure of playing along with some very high-level ensembles. The NoMadPlay team is providing a much more accessible way of practising music, particularly classical music. The company's planned international expansion was also an important factor for us," added Karine Lignel, Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Mutuel Innovation (formerly CM-CIC Innovation).
NoMadPlay, which will be launched in November 2018 in partnership with Yamaha, will feature numerous functions such as digital sheet music and a facility to share recordings, in a curated environment that includes historical information, presentations of musicians and news.
By offering a broad catalogue of teaching, chamber music and orchestral pieces, accessible to musicians of all levels and up to conservatoire standard, NoMadPlay wants to enrich the process of learning an instrument and to give all musicians the experience of playing in an ensemble, anytime and anywhere.
